Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
Dr Jacquelyn Yang
HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCL.
Hello! I'm Jacquelyn, a Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in London, offering online therapy for adults across the UK.
I work in a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental way, drawing on evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs and goals. I take a trauma-informed and holistic perspective, taking time to understand you as a whole person - your background, strengths, relationships, and what matters to you. I view people within the context of their communities, cultures and environments, rather than as isolated individuals. Having grown up in Hong Kong, I have personal experience of moving to and living in a new environment and culture, and the pressures and identity shifts that can come with that. While my core approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I also draw on and integrate other approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and narrative and systemic approaches where helpful.
I completed my clinical doctorate at UCL and have over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field - in academia, in the NHS, and in third sector organisations. I have worked in the NHS for 8 years and specialise in working with trauma, PTSD/Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, traumatic bereavement, and identity and adjustment-related difficulties (including life transitions or physical health conditions).
In the NHS, I have worked in specialist trauma services, supporting asylum seekers, refugees and resettled families using trauma-focused CBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Imagery Rescripting and Compassion-focused techniques. I will also be working in an NHS Autism diagnostic and consultation service, and an ADHD clinic. I also worked with people experiencing common mental health difficulties such as low mood, anxiety disorders, and adjustment difficulties related to life changes, transitions, or physical health conditions.
In addition to clinical work, I have also been involved in delivering teaching to NHS staff, workshops, and research. My research focus has involved projects on supporting the mental health of children and young people with long-term physical health conditions (with UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health), and more recently on barriers and facilitators to accessing and attending psychological therapy for people living with dementia, and their carers (with UCL Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology).
My availability
I offer online sessions on Thursday and Friday with daytime hours. I occasionally offer Saturday morning sessions, but have limited availability - please do get in touch to discuss.
